The new NIH 398 and 2590 forms (Rev. 5/01) and an updated version of the Proposal Routing Form (PRF) were released on December 9, 2001. NIH EGMS proposals initaited after December 9, 2001 use the new forms and newly initiated PRFs use the new version.  'In Progress' NIH proposals and 'Returned' PRFs (in progress PRFs which have not yet passed audit) that were initiated prior to December 9, 2001 have been automatically updated to reflect the software changes.

NIH proposals that were in Frozen Status and PRFs that were in Pending or Samsara Status at the time of the software upgrade will not be affected, unless the proposal is unfrozen or the PRF is returned by the Preparer or an Approver.  In such an instance, the proposal and/or PRF will be automatically updated to reflect the software changes, and will require additional data entry.
