If you click on any of the links for the EGMS databases, you will be asked to log in with your University Internet ID (X.500 username) and password. The Internet ID is the string of characters before the @ in the original U of M e-mail username assigned to you. The password is the X.500-associated e-mail password. Once your log on is complete, you will be able to move from one database to another within the system without being asked to log in again.

Non-University staff can examine the EGMS databases on the EGMS practice site: http://nirvana.ospa.umn.edu:4000. Instructions for logging on as an external user are posted at that site.

You can link to a number of EGMS resources from the EGMS Home Page, including the User Guide (downloadable), the EGMS Support page, and the Welcome to EGMS message. For new users or visitors, the welcome message provides a brief overview of the system.

Hardware and software requirements

To run EGMS, at a minimum you will need a Windows, Mac, or Unix operating system with a Netscape 3.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 browser. To print PDF EGMS documents, Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or later is required.
