The audit step checks that you have completed the required fields but will not flag typographical errors. Proofread the text prior to printing proposal forms.
For U of M key personnel, EGMS requires that you build biosketches in the Biographical Sketch and Other Support subsections by retrieving data stored in the Expertise and Other Support Databases. You will not be able to complete the Key Personnel section and have the proposal pass audit without having some data entered in the supporting databases for your U of M key personnel.

What data needs to be in the Expertise and Other Support Databases before I can prepare a biosketch?
All the sponsor-required forms in EGMS: all U of M key personnel must have complete records existing in the Expertise and Other Support Databases.
A Budget Only EGMS proposal: Expertise Database records are not required for all of your U of M key personnel. Only the PI (and for some sponsors, the Co-PI) need to have Expertise Database records; within the Expertise Database, these individuals only need data in the Demographics and Education subsections. No data is needed in the Other Support Database.
An NIH Modular proposal: all U of M key personnel must have complete records existing in the Expertise Database, but no data is required in the Other Support Database. Instead, you enter this information in the Research Activity subsection of the Key Personnel section.
An NIH Noncompeting Continuation: all U of M key personnel only need the Demographics subsection completed in the Expertise Database. In addition, the PI must have any new publications resulting from the project listed in the Publications subsection of the Expertise Database. New key personnel must have complete records existing in the Expertise Database. For non-SNAP Noncompeting Continuations, all U of M key personnel need to have active projects entered in the Other Support Database. For SNAP proposals, only new key personnel need to have active projects entered in the Other Support Database.
A Supplement proposal: only the PI needs to have an Expertise Database record; within the Expertise Database, the PI only needs data in the Demographics and Education subsections. New key personnel not listed in the original proposal must have complete records existing in the Expertise and Other Support Databases.
